Hello, dear one!
What? Am I cursing with the common BS?
No, this B.S. stands for BELIEF SYSTEM.
Since you can remember, your parents, schools, neighbors, and peers have conditioned you with rules and norms that might not agree with your core values, but you learned to adapt to them.
In the process, you’ve numbed yourself as you played the amicable and pleasing role.
If every so often you find yourself anxious and doubtful about something, like your health condition, job security, or children’s future, check your B.S., the belief system.
The good news is everything you’re experiencing externally is the reflection of your internal belief system.
Upgrade your B.S., you shall see the wonders right in front of you.
Recently walking my dog in Stinson Beach, California, I ran into a lady, who works in San Francisco as an animal rescue specialist.
She previously worked for Whole Foods Market in Canada and received a vision of moving to sunny California. She was buoyant with her dream.
Soon a manager’s position at Whole Food Market opened up in Mill Valley of Marin County. She applied and was accepted.
Now, her challenge was to secure a rental home that would accommodate her two dogs.
In the scarce inventory of rentals, she miraculously found an old wooden home in Fairfax on a chilly February afternoon, with pouring rain.
She contacted the landlord, and he said yes to her and her two dogs.
But, there was a twist.
After she returned home to Canada, she rescued a lost cat in front of her building.
She was reluctant and fearful to renegotiate with her new landlord, and both her mother and sister suggested staying silent about the situation.
But she listened to her inner guidance and chose to be upfront.
She texted the landlord and told him that she had adopted a cat.
To her surprise, the landlords replied, “Come on home.”
Her face was glowing in the afternoon sun when she confirmed her belief system, “I just knew things would work out for me and my animals one way or the other.”
She didn’t listen to her sister and mother; she followed her hunch, her B.S..
God says before you call me, I will answer. When you’re speaking, I’m listening (Isaiah 65:24).
When you dare to please and honor YOU, the impossible becomes possible.
Here is a famous story of someone who owns his B.S..
Fritz Kreisler is regarded as one of the best violinists in the history of world music. One afternoon in the 40s, he was strolling New York City, and he was captured by the exquisite beauty of a violin from a store window on 48th Street.
He went into the store and asked the storekeeper how much it would cost to purchase this violin. Kreisler was astonished by the astronomical asking price.
But he felt a connection with this violin and asked the storekeeper, “I will gather my supporters for a loan, and this will take a few days. Can you hold this violin for me?” The storekeeper reinforced the store rule of first come and first serve.
A few days later, Kreisler came back to the store with the funds he raised for the violin, the storekeeper told him that a wealthy collector in town had purchased the violin.
Kreisler didn’t give up, “May I have his contact information because he may agree to sell it to me?” After obtaining the collector’s address, Kreisler visited him.
The collector reassured Kreisler that he had no intention to sell this violin.
Upon leaving the apartment, as Kreisler open the door, he turned back and asked the collector, “Before I leave, may I play one song with it?” The collector agreed.
Kreisler picked up the violin; he was making love with this beloved instrument.
The collector was mesmerized by the perfect unity between Kreisler and the violin.
When the music ended, the collector told Kreisler, “If I keep this violin, it will be on the wall. But if you play this violin, you’ll touch the hearts of thousands of people.”
He sold the violin to Kreisler.
Without a slight sign of oscillation, Kreisler’s determination matched the wonder of the violin. Together, they brought out God’s ingenuity to inspire thousands of human souls.
The next time you catch yourself doubtful and anxious about a desire, check your B.S. and have the courage to upgrade it!
