The Richest Place

Hello, dear one!

Have you ever wondered where the richest place is on Earth? Let’s explore.

On an illustrious day, I caught up with my friend who just returned home from Spain with her husband. Oh boy, didn’t they have a story to tell!

While traveling on the coast of Spain in 2018, they fell in love with a property in Estepona, which is in the Malaga Providence of southern Spain and was bordered by the Mediterranean Ocean to the south and Seveille to the northwest.

They were elated to see Africa from that property. What a place to bring all our family here together! They purchased the property and renovated it in 2019.

You remember the world lockdown at the beginning of 2020, right?

At the beginning of 2021, they received an email from a neighbor in Estepona. Someone had broken into their home and lived there during the lockdown.

Just like here in America, you can’t evict an intruder who resides on your vacant property without going through a court procedure.

Their attorney won the case, but they were horrified to discover that all their belongings were stolen, including paintings on the walls and fixtures in the bathrooms. They sold the property at a financial loss.

What does this story have anything to do with the richest place?

Are they regretful? As her husband methodically cut a piece of juicy prime rib, he couldn’t hide his childlike, almost mischievous smile, “It’s another experience we invested in ourselves.”

Yes, it’s just another life experience. But they were undaunted to give the property a try, just like other properties they dared to purchase. They won some and lost some. That’s life!

As a former hospice nurse manager, my experience has taught me to execute decisions quickly. No patient died regretting what they did and the bad consequences they had to confront. They regretted not trying before they took their last breath on Earth.

So, where is the richest place?

I couldn’t have concurred more with the late Dr. Myles Monroe,

“The wealthiest place in the world is not the gold mines of South America or the oil fields of Iraq or Iran. They are not the diamond mines of South Africa or the banks of the world.

The wealthiest place on the planet is just down the road. It is the cemetery.

There lie buried companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, bestselling books that were never written, and masterpieces that were never painted. In the cemetery is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential.”

Do you know before the pandemic, there were at least one million people die each day in the world? They went to sleep and never woke up. This could be you and me.

On this note, let me share another real estate story of my two co-workers. This happened about five years ago.

They both wanted to be homeowners and had lender-approved letters to borrow mortgage loans.

One couldn’t afford a single-family home, so she opted out for condos. In a few weeks, she purchased her first home, a lovely two-story condo unit. As a homeowner, she’s now enjoying the tax deductions and building equity for her next home.

Meanwhile, the other coworker was a pragmatic over-thinker. She was afraid of being an imbecile and overpaying the cost of homes, year after year.

She not only exhausted her real estate agent who showed her over 40 properties but also lost her purchasing power over the years due to increased home costs. The mortgage interest rate has doubled since a year ago. She’s still renting today.

Some people love to hang on to their martyr stories of misfortune, and they’ll enter the graveyard with their defeat, anxiety, and fear.

If you reflect and observe all your decisions, they were either from fear of the unknown, or a place of love. There was no success or failure if you didn’t judge it. Every event was just another life experience in a larger scope.

There is a hyphen between the year you were born and the day when God calls you. What would you like to fill in your hyphen while you’re still breathing?

What new stories would you like to create today for YOU?
